Okay while making some modifications to Goron City for my mod, I decided to see what each and every map of scene 0x0's mesh was made up of. I decided to open map 4 & object 0x0 (with scene 0x0) and got this weird picture? Now I know UoT tends to mess up with certain textures but I've never seen this...: I didn't really feel like checking it out in-game for myself but I still thought I should post this Excuse me if this is a stupid topic. Hmm... maybe I should start familiarizing myself with SayakaGL

Check ingame and maybe it is a UoT texture fuck up. if not it could be part of the mod

Haha, nevermind, it's just a UoT texture error. SayakaGL displays it with correct normal texturing

A7ex, I hope you are kidding. UoT was the ONLY tool of its kind for quite some time. (well maybe ZAP/ZLE) There is a new tool in the works though. You may want to check out xDaniel's SayakaGL tool. While I do not know if he intends it to replace UoT, it certainly does many/most of the functions UoT handled. Give it a gander glitchkill.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ootmod&action=display&thread=5302EDIT: I reread your post. You DO know that UoT is an open source project. You are welcome to make UoT better, since it sounds like you are quite disappointed in it.

Would it be possible to create a COMPLETE Ocarina of Time tool? As in a tool that has a texture/text and everything else editor. Of course it would. From my experience (I program mostly in Java and C#(.NET)), creating tools that do these things is not necessarily difficult, but getting all of the needed nuances and also the GUI (that most people cannot seem to live without) can take time to layout and program properly. This also creates complexity, which makes the program more inherently difficult to test and implement. Not to mention all of the folks who get mad if the program that didn't cost them a dime...errors out. This takes a toll on the programmer (or team of folks) because they tend no not feel appreciated. I think spinout, xdaniel, et al can back me up on some of this stuff as they has made excellent tools that seem to get more criticism than praise (I am not kissing ass, its just my take on what I see happening). xDaniel also is making a tool that can do many things. I believe his project is open source as well (not 100% on that). Why not take his tool and add one or 2 functions to it? If 3 or 4 people did that, we may well have a complete tool (unlikely it would be cross-platform I would imagine), but it would be a one-stop shop. This also means someone/multiple folks would need to upgrade, correct and otherwise maintain the project. so you can see why this tool doesn't exists by now, I can imagine.

xDaniel also is making a tool that can do many things. I believe his project is open source as well (not 100% on that) SayakaGL's not yet open source, but I plan to make it that at some point - at the very least once I lost interest in it, but most likely already beforehand. One of the reasons why it's not yet open source is the controlled environment under which I can develop, and the testers - Naxy, Zeth and Arcaith - and I test it. This way, there's bound to be less "omg your tool f-ked up my ROMz!!1" from users, because we've hopefully fixed the most obvious bugs it might have before the general release. Of course that's no guarantee against having some function that under certain, specific circumstances still crashes the program or damages the ROM, but it makes it less likely.

My bad xdaniel. I totally agree with your approach. Thanks for clarifying.

Would it be possible to create a COMPLETE Ocarina of Time tool? As in a tool that has a texture/text and everything else editor. I try to stick to a simple rule: Keep it simple. When it comes to writing programs, this means modular code which forms programs which do one thing, and do it well. Multifunction applications become too large to maintain.

Multifunction programs are good when they perform a set of related actions that are useful to have all in one program.
