while im working on wrapping up ToA, i decided to start on a new project its clearly NOT a knock off of rosetta stone but what it does (theoretically) is help improve both your working memory and your ability to recognize syllables, thus aiding you in picking up and learning words faster in another language. its only in french now, but thats because its very beta at the moment. but if youre taking a french class or whatnot, and would like to be a part of this project, either reply here or pm me, and ill pm you the download link and what i need you to do. you wont have to program or anything, but use it at a given time in your daily schedule, like right before bed, right after waking up, etc. and telling me how well its working, so i can find out the time thats most beneficial thanx!

The Rosetta Stone is an Ancient Egyptian artifact which was instrumental in advancing modern understanding of hieroglyphic writing.
Anyway... I may have to try it out, sounds alright.

It's quite fun, the only downside of it is that my laptop can't do all the accents, and there are quite a lot of them in the french language. I can only do: é á í ú ó
Also would it be possible to put in a list of words and have the program test you on those? That would help a lot with revising for vocabulary tests.
Perhaps you could make it like:
Word 1- French: English:
Word 2- French: English:
etc.
And the program then tells you the English word, and you have to type in the French.

i would do that, but that word take a very extensive vocabulary-library stuff thing the way that it stores and loads the words now is it sorts them first in order of first letter, then the last letter, then the lenght of the word, similar to the way the human brain recognizes words FIRST LETTER[ -LAST LETTER[ --5 LETTERS[ ---FAIRE ---FxxxE ---FxxxE --] --6LETTERS[] -] -LAST LETTER[ --ETC[] -] ]
this way it can load the words VERY quickly, and randomly
i have an idea of how i would change the layout of the .LIBs tho right now its <word>, <word>, etc. i could make it <word, fr>|<word, en>, etc.
it would sort them according to the french words letters/size, and would have a "mirror" array holding the english translations
downside to this, is that it would take a LONG time to do by hand but i could do it with an online translator, hoping that it works right, and hold the data in two seperate files
but ill give it a look soon, like right now while i work on ways to implement that, keep using it w/e and thinking of any new ideas for me thanx again
edit: ok, niether world lingo OR google translator are able to translate massive amounts of words (in the thousands at a time) without a pretty large amount of errors, the biggest being in the syntax of <word>, <word>, etc keeps getting comfuzzled...
this doesnt mean that its not possible, but its no t going to be as easy as i thought not only will i have to translate a LOT of words, but i have to find a way to implement them into the program so that you'll actually be benefited by it, not just confused as heck at all these foriegn words

I'm writing a program to help me with vocab tests, it's pretty basic but could be quite useful. It's basically what I described, you enter the words in one language, then the other, and it tells you the word in the first language and asks for the word in the second language. I might post it, but first I need to learn how to make the number of words be however many you tell it you want it to be.
Ok, I'm pretty n00by at this and can't figure it out so for now it'll just be for 10 words.
