Getting your PS2 online with Brookfresh
NTSC METHOD
That's right, connect your NTSC PS2 to brookfresh, and browse the web.
Thanks to Gregory for this method:
Connect you PS2 to your PC (using ICS as below).
Download and run Ethereal from www.ethereal.com (You will need WPCap also i would imagine)
Connect to Central Station using your NTSC Network Access Disc.
Look for the DNS the pc is loking for (should show up on ethereal)
Start a DNS server on your PC, or use the HOSTS file.
Set it so that when you try to connect to the DNS, it goes to brookfresh instead.
217.149.108.238
Happy Browsing!
ICS instructions
If you aren't having any luck with Method 1, then you might want to network your PS2 through your PC using windows built-in ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)
If your PS2 connects to the net through your PC (ICS etc) then you can edit your hosts file and this should allow PAL versions of the NAD to browse any web page.
You can find the hosts file in the following places:
Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
Windows NT/2000 c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Windows XP c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open hosts with notepad then add:
217.33.205.103 uk.playstationtv.com
217.33.205.103 au.playstationtv.com
217.33.205.103 eu.playstationtv.com
After editing the hosts file, if you are using Win9X, you may need to reset your PC. If you are using XP then you don't need to reset.
Now you can just start Central Station and hopefully the Brookfresh page will show up.
If you ever want to see Central Station again then you can comment or delete those lines from the hosts file. Use # to comment out the lines.
