In my Dark Christmas mod, I've been puting up with BMP files & their crap while doing textures (a vital part of my mod!) And I'm starting on the Deku Tree, (which is almost all BMP files!) I realised that BMP files are going to make this mod crap unless I can do anything about it. I know that textures dumped from Rice's plugin are all PNGs, I may have to resort to that. So, is there a way to "patch" textures from Rice's? Is there a way to mod data in n64gfx or the ROM to make all the textures PNGs? If not, you have a choice: many good & "bad" textures, patched into the ROM, or all good textures, but in the form of a pack. I hope there's a solution here.

That is totally serious. If you go to spinout182.com/mqd/f.html you can search for an Area/object's offset, there you go into the ROM and find it. Then find a list on a website like Google or something of the bytes for textures and change them.

I think I'd have an easier time hacking into ZLE2 and modifying it to read textures like Rice's plugin. XD

You have to change the pallette that the textures use if you want better results. I'm not sure at the moment how this works, but it's there to save memory. It'd be possible to make all the textures in the game editable as PNGs but then you wouldn't be able to use any textures larger than 64x32/32x64.

cool! I'll look into it, if you find out more about, tell me. I'm gonna work on non-texture type stuff til' I have this all this all figured out.

Well It might be possible... but if you are using gimp it will not allow you to use any other color than the palette allows.... so if you choose bright red and it isn't in the palette it will change to the closest it can find That probably works for other programs aswell (not MSpaint) that might do some good ^^ but since I'm a fan of black... guess who makes a lot of them black? (It is awesome with a black handle for the master sword o.0, oh and black instead of red/orange on the gauntlets is awesome!)

That probably works for other programs aswell (not MSpaint) Actually MS Paint handles palletted textures perfectly. The best way you're going to be able to change the texture types is if spinout's maps/scenes in C ever gets finished, that way you'd only need to edit a few lines of code and compile your map with the new textures.

Andreawws, working with GIMP, that only happens to me with BMPs, I havn't noticed problems like that with PNGs. I could always download photoshop, but that'd be a bother. Idk, I just want to know if there's a method where all texture can be edited in the PNG format & be patched into the ROM.
