ok i download spinouts porter and don't know where to next then i downloaded python 2.6 and more files appear in the folder heres where im at www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOFIIupObXw

Very simple.
1. Put your ROM and the obj you want to import, its mtl file and the textures for it in the same directory (saves typing the full path to the file). 2. Run obj2area.py and follow the prompts.
These are just sample values, but you can see how it works easily enough.

this looks very different when i saw spinouts new porter video on youtube he had a program came up or does these steps start the program?

Do you mean the MM to OOT area porter or the level importer? You might have the wrong program.

You are not using the newest version, newer versions cannot display an error message like that.
