Interesting, could we also post/share finished projects or should we make another thread for that? But regardless this is a very good idea! Maybe we can contribute into helping each other with our unfinished projects as well.

Sounds good to me lol. The idea for having a place for unfinished things like these is for everyone to toss their knock-off work here when they can to let others have a listen, see what they like and don't like, and provide an opportunity for us to take elements from what we post and create new projects from them

Cool lol because there were only 2 more songs I made in the past, even before I joined here drive.google.com/open?id=0B8rHgE_H8aJsVF85c05rMDNSQ2c small themes really. To be honest this whole year I've thought about giving up on music since my talent obviously sucks but I've collected so many new synths, pads and loops over the past month that it made me want to delve into trying new things lately and maybe those songs will give you guys or anyone else ideas on their projects, who knows.

I like the vibe of Distant Galaxy, Punk, do you happen to still have the stems for it (a .WAV master would be a good alternative as well)? Sounds like it uses a series of evolving pads and some strings, if I'm not mistaken, has a nice Alionoctis sound to it, some interesting texture work.

Awesome, thank you. Taking a few samples from Distant Galaxy to create a sleek, cool atmosphere in combination with bits and pieces of DJ's Chill and Generic beat loops, a few elements such as the string staccato section from Dungeon.ogg and GROTTO.ogg, as well. It has a kind of avant garde alt rock thing going on. Will post a demo of it in a bit

Will post a demo of it in a bit Looking through my old projects folder I actually still have the drum loops, vocal samples and cymbal from my Chill Beat song. Minus the other stuff which was VST generated lol I think the genesisf beat was different because I used a soundfont for that one but I can check just to be sure, let me know if you want or need those for your project. Am interested in what you create from it and punks stuff.

Sounds good to me, feel free to upload them, that would be quite useful. Here's what I have so far. What I've done with Chill and Generic is, I've taken each loop and split them each in two, (this is done due to Chill in particular changing keys every bar). I've now spliced each loop so percussion hits are mapped to separate keys in series of two to four hits per key, (this is preferable in this case over one hit per key in that the loop has a lot of groove to it, may as well make use of its natural performance) the loops have also been re-sequenced slightly. The loops begin around 1:57. I then use a pad from Distant Galaxy mixed with some white noise, some subtle bit rate loss, slight tape saturation, high frequency-exclusive panning, and several 1/ delays for a glittery and evolving ambience, and a second copy of the Distant Galaxy pad sampled with a short decay and played at a higher octave at a slightly low volume for added tension as a layer with a sample of a string staccato from DUNGEON.ogg to make up an arpeggio, which is run through a phaser and flanger combination and eq'd slightly for a roomy guitar-like rhythm. I also use a few samples of my own including an ARP 2600 bass sample combined with a sample of the Synth String from OoT/MM layered together on an EMAX II with a low velocity-driven cutoff, some bit rate reduction, a low volume 1/4 mono delay and some eq for the 'wum, wahh' bass part, as well as a recording of a bass guitar playing a three note ascending riff that has been sampled and run through an LFO filter for a little extra texture and a bit rate reducer for a very subtle high frequency response (a fun alternative to an Exciter effect, helps the bass through during denser parts of the song) as well as a Roland Space Echo delay at 1/4D with a respectively descending and ascending highpass / lowpass treatment for some added mix presence, eq, and finally a slight addition of tape saturation to add a touch of bite and 'chunk' to the bassline. I use a short sample from many years ago of a 'rolling' cymbal effect I think I made by taking a cymbal and running it through some sort of filter, a compressor, and finally a maximizer to bring its soft transients up to meet the loud transients, recorded as a one bar loop. I have this cymbal roll part playing every beat in this piece (it just sounds right). I also use a series of Kontakt string instruments for the orchestral crescendo around the climax of the song. A hi-hat from this song is also used as a light introduction to the 1/4 snare pattern at the beginning of the song and is also used during the outro as a return to familiarity for the listener after the song's climax. Several live drum performances are also used, it is a yamaha custom recording kit with 22" zildjian crash and two different noble & cooley snares which are emphasized in this mix, quite heavy-hitting lol The mix is then run through some minimal effects, including admittedly tight compression, eq with a focus on the low to low meds in the center of the mix (to bring up the bass without it being too much, as well as the Roland 808 kick that accentuates the bass drum pattern throughout the song) and a focus on med to high frequencies on the sides, (to really bring out the glitter of the Distant Galaxy pad). I opt not to perform any audio maximizing to the song, as it is quite naturally loud as it is (I believe it hits +/- -7.9db during the intro alone. I believe this loudness is warranted, as the song is quite moody and does demand a heavier presence). I have most audio in the song that was not sampled recorded at 96khz 24 bit, final mix brought down to commercial quality 16 bit with some dithering applied, mp3 version saved at 16bit 44.1khz 320kbps. Let me know what you think of it lol

Sounds nice but I can't tell if you used stuff from my stuff with that last remix you made of my other song seaside heights I could tell you remixed that one because it was awesome! But this new songs different but good different too lol heres all the samples used in my chill beat theme drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8rHgE_H8aJsMElWUW0zaS1Yc0E&usp=sharing I was able to save the VST outputs to wave it seems which were a majority of them. Now for the genesisf beat I couldn't find the soundfont for it, looks like I deleted it sometime ago so I'll have to download another one and assemble it with the notes again.

No problem, that's the sign of a decent mix lol, the song is presented as a whole rather than a sum of its parts. Here's a quick unmixed Ambient Mix of it so you can hear the elements exposed more clearly. I removed the flanger from the DUNGEON.ogg sample so you can hear the string staccato rhythm more clearly as well. I also lift the eq, tape saturation, and phase correction from the 'Chill' loop towards the end, so you can hear it dry.

Whoa! It sounds amazing near the end where I can really hear the instruments used from both themes, its more than decent I like it! Especially added along with punks space theme lol even I couldn't make something like that, exciter you should upload this to your youtube channel if you want or soundcloud. Its awesome!!
