Ah, I meant that it would surprise me if the E-MU Proteus was used in some way for a video game, I don't mean to extend that to other E-MU products like the E-MU Emulator II, which is definitely used more often and better known. I can imagine more than two games use the E-II, as well.

Yeah it's unfortunate that there isn't any free extractors for AKAI or Sxx cds. Haven't heard those samples before.

That's sad. For both things you said.
EDIT: Is anybody able to look into the E-MU Emulator series for any more sounds used in the Paper Mario series? I'm still looking for them, but I found that Creepy Steeple uses a sample from GLISS_WATERPHONE.

Remember when I brung up what the timpanis that Paper Mario 2 and Super Paper Mario could have used? I think I found them in Peter Siedleczek's Advanced Orchestra. I think some of the songs might've had some special effects to them to make them sound different. Not 100% sure there's anything else in there though. I almost thought they had the brass used in Keelhaul Key for a moment, they sound very different though.

Nice. I still hear Peter Siedlaczek's stuff used today every now and then. There's also a re-release of his old stuff called Peter Siedlaczek's Complete Classical Collection. I have this, its a nice collection.

I see. Someone back on the HCS forum said that Paper Mario series might use a variety. Right now I'm wondering where these sounds might've came from: The bongo/conga/whatever drums in the Chapter 5 songs The drums in Rogueport Sewers/Petal Meadows/Petalburg (seems to have a few sound effects in there) The music box sound in the Sadness theme/Unused SPM Relax theme The choir sound in the shooting to the moon cutscene The 'vox' sound used in a few battle themes in SPM such as I'm Not Nice or probably the Bowser Battle theme (sounds a bit like the one Kirby games generally use but eerier) The 'vox' sound used in Chapter 3-related battle themes

If you could link the samples in question to a raw sample or YouTube video with the timstamp, I'd take a look.

Not sure about that choir but mostly everything else comes from a Roland SC-88 in this track. That SFX at 0:36 comes from Zero G's Ambient 2 - LORE DRONE. You can hear it here. Not sure about the rest sorry.
