EDIT btw, I think the answer is negative infinity because pi * sqrt(-1) is a negative value and e is a complex number that exponentially approaches infinity. The answer is x=-1 because the equation becomes cos(pi)+i*sin(pi), the sine term vanishes and obviously cos(pi) is -1. By the way, sqrt(-1) is not negative, it is the imaginary number i, and e is not a complex number but is a constant (e=2.718...).
