According to Wikipedia, it was signed on October 1st. Though, I'm not exactly sure about how ACTA it will affect the internet.

From what I read it will make ISPs responsible for your actions, effectively forcing them to have to spy on you (which they probably do anyway). That will also mean that they'll start restricting the sites you can visit too. What is wrong with the world?

Most ISPs sell your information to marketing company's.
Mine is as follows:
Shaw does not sell Personal Information about its Customers, Employees and/or Web Site Users. Shaw may share a Customer’s Personal Information with its partners, associates and third party service providers in order to fulfill the purposes identified in Subsection 3.1. In such cases, the relationship with the partner, associate or third party is governed by strict confidentiality standards and policies to ensure the Customer’s information is secure and treated in accordance with The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and with the utmost care and respect.

Well damn, looks like Glitchkill is going to go to hell, in that case we all have to buy plane tickets and meet up somewhere instead of speaking on the forums.

Yes. The internet was created to share information and now that's what they're trying to stop. Let's just move all the important sites to Australia and set up our own internet there.

Well I'm not sure. It's not like this site hosts anything illegal. You punk, clearly anything you do is illegal, because you're Canadian and you have backwards seasons. I would say this to the Americans here but judging on your average IQ (As based on the US Congress) you probably wouldn't get the joke.

According to the American government anything you do is illegal if they think so. Well, no use complaining until they actually screw with the internet. The only thing I've seen so far is slightly more enforced copyright rules on youtube.

According to the American government anything you do is illegal if they think so. Yes but why are they able to do anything to people or websites that aren't in the US? The problem is that most countries (for God knows what reason) seem to think America has the right ideas. If it was up to us Brits we'd just complain about it then have a cup of tea and leave it at that. Oh wait, America's doing it, better do the same or they'll declare war on us or something. Time to quit the internet and use other forms of communication? Nope, phone calls get monitored, the postal service isn't competent nor incredibly safe and they'll probably put cameras everywhere to monitor our everyday activities soon. One day we probably won't even be able to read copyrighted material aloud in case somebody steals it. Just think about it; how far can they go with this sort of rubbish?
