But they overwrite scenes. You'd need to extend the entire scene table to add entries instead of replacing them. Still, if you have nearly infinite space, you could copy and paste the scene table, append whatever you want to it, and then repoint it manually. You could then use the space taken by the old scene table for whatever you want. ......... I need to try this... sometime....

So technically, this extension could have the potential to create a whole new way of modding? If so, the question comes as to who would have the capability/have the time to set it all up That's the problem. Most casual gamers/modders get terrified when you mention something like "assembly," "raw code" or "compiler," but when you bring them having to do something involving those things into the equation, the resulting panic fit is pretty much tangible. Given that you'd need to use a compiler to achieve this and make the patch usable (or wait an obscenely long time for a download), the chances of this particular method being commonly used are slim at best. It's a nice thought, having infinite space and creating an extremely long and extended game (OoT, then MM, then three sequels in one ROM), but it's got too many drawbacks to make it really worth it.

With all the time you'd have to spend building maps/objects/reprogramming most of the game, it'd be best to just create your own game from scratch. That way you also wouldn't be limited by the N64 hardware's capabilities.

yes that's probably true.. but the only reason that I think this could be fun is because it would be a great challenge^^

well no it wouldn't because with a team there is a greater chance that someone fucks up and there are too many independent ideas that will cause a great deal of argument :/

Imagine making a mistake on such a big mod, damn, that would suck, alot. But I guess, finishing it on other hand would make tha person truly a legend. He would be known for ages. Just like that guy who made Zelda's birthday. There was more than one person who made it you know...

*facepalm* There were at least 8 major contributors to Zelda's Birthday, but the main person associated with it was JSA. Actually, unless I'm utterly mistaken, it may have been an entire community project, with all of ZSO helping out in whatever way they could.

Ironic you should say that, considering you thought only one person made it.
Anyway,

Yeah I got an idea, I will try this when I get home to patch this rom..... it could work with choosing the ultra extended as the modified one and the original unmodified as the original file, since ppf-0-matic makes a patch containing all the differences.......

That won't work. To create a patch, you need to have the files be exactly the same size, down to a single byte. If there's even one byte more or less in difference between the two files, a patch cannot be made.

That would be freakin sweet. It would be funny to combine OoT and MM as one game with custom stuff in between to start mm. I think I remember in the ZSO days someone (Or a team) was working on this. I think they gave up though for some reason.
