just made a really simple program that creates random guitar tabs its based off of the circle of fifths and this color-note theory thing i came up with not long ago, so the majority of the riff dont sound absolutly like crap anyways, i looking for someone who plays guitar besides myself who can help me with testing (not really worried about stability as its so simple, but more about how good the random results sound) gui version: www.box.net/shared/scyhx3srbyfirst release: www.box.net/shared/jurupm3nze (broken) THINGS TO KNOW (mainly cause i got rid of the old readme file): *the circles are simply circle of fifths, with A at the top *thus, all tabs are simply the A string with which fret to play *its up to the guitarist to transpose however they want *you click on a color and its "poured" into the "pot" or "bucket" *then click, after making a nice mix, on the green button *this will make a random tab and write it at the top *press again for another, and another, and so on *to empty the bucket, click the red button *alt-enter for fullscreen on/off *esc or the little box in the top corner to exit EDIT: *added a blue bar, generates a lettered tab when clicked *ie: |A-C-D-F#| EDIT 2: *added save/load funtions *control-s to save the current mix as *control-shift-s to save as *control-l to load a mix *also added a few mixes to the .zip for you to play around with

Sure, I'll test it! Lol I'm not too good with tabs though, I never use them. I just have a combination of writing my own music and playing other music from listening, can't be bothered to read. This program sounds good though.

It's alright, but it keeps coming up always 3, 5 or 10, or it will give out a riff with a few out of key notes in it. But I dunno, I guess it depends on the kind of guitar you play, I usually like to stay in key and just make riffs that have a good melody to them. A lot of it is to do with the fact I don't have a band and I just play on my own, so I write stuff that sounds good on its own.
But great job writing the program, wouldn't have a clue how to do it myself. XD

ok, gui version is up ;D, and just fixed a bug where it kept adding in only 1's and a LOT of 0's whenever you clicked on the primary colors hope this one is a lot easier to use/understand

Lots easier to use now, nice job! I wouldn't say it's good for just giving you an amazing sounding riff, but better for just giving you ideas, and then you work around what it gives you and change a few notes and there you go. Pretty cool.

Same for me. Not one single lesson, 2 and 11/12 years experience and my teacher for my music performance course said I was amazing and I must have wasted my childhood. When I said how long I have played for they were all like " OMG seriously? Thats's even worse!" Lol.

a little over 3yrs here my mom had given me an acoustic and said when i got good at that she would buy me an electric well, screw that (i hate playing the acoustic), so i went out and bought this peice of crap one i have now, and did a LOT of cheap work on it and a lot of practice trying to get a good sound out of it
