ok, look at my oversized top sig
see those letters? thats what imma gonna learn you today
(oh yeah, this tut uses gimp, but photoshop has all the same tools if not more, so itll be ok either way)
1 - make a new image
2 - select the text tool (t) and click somewhere
3 - a text box should open, so type away
4 - now set the sizea and font to your liking, ignore the color for now, leave it black
5 - take your "select by color" tool (shift+o) and click on the text.
it should select everywhere there are letters, if not, make sure you are on the layer with the text and are not using the magic wand instead of the "select by color" tool
6 - goto select->border, and choose some number around 5. if you used a smaller font size, this number should be lower, like a 3, and vice versa
7 - now make a new layer, and with it selected, fill in the selected border around your text (ctrl+comma)
8 - hide you original text layer and make sure it filled in a bordered version of the text (with hole in it, look at my example sig below)
if the font is solid and has no holes in if, undo and select a smaller amount for the border option in step 6
9 - now goto color->colorize and make the text the color that you want. i chose this way of coloring if b/c its much easier to fine tune.
10 - now use the gaussian blur (inder filters->blur) and blur it VERY little, like 1 or 2 pixels
11 - under filter->distort, select emboss, make sure that its set to bumpmap and the color show up and not just emboss which makes it silverish. slide the depth slider left and down to get the look that you want.
that should be about it! :]]]]]]
