Hey guys, I just had a few questions. Is it possible to hack Majora's Mask just like Ocarina of Time? I was thinking about adding new levels to MM like a Shadow Temple and a Fire Temple. I still want the time based system and the masks in the game. Also, would hacking MM be similar to OoT or completely different? And I mean purely to mod the game and add content or change it the way I want to. I'm completely new to this, but I only really see mods for OoT, but nothing for Majora's Mask...

This is because people have been mainly working with and developing tools for the Debug ROM for Ocarina of Time, and it wasn't until relatively recently that a Debug ROM for Majora's Mask was found. Up until that point, all we had to work with was a decompressed demo version of Majora's Mask (besides, of course, the official cartridge releases, which are much more difficult to work with). Although the MM engine is essentially just an upgraded version of OoT's, there are several file formats that are incompatible because they utilize different commands within each file to determine how they function. To answer your question, technically speaking it is possible to add custom maps to Majora's Mask but it's a somewhat involved process; take a look at this video if you're interested in details and/or getting in contact with the guy who managed to do it. Also, the team working on the URA Project is aiming to address this lack of documentation and tools for the engine, so over time I imagine this will become more feasible as new information and programs are released.

If you're interested in roms other than the OoT debug rom, you might want to check out my z64dump program. You just drag and drop the rom on it and it'll dump information about the rom such as the location of the filetable, object table, actor, table, gameplay_keep, gameplay_field_keep, and gameplay_dungeon_keep, and information about all the actors. I was working on an updated version which also decompresses the rom, extracts it (and sorts the files), and other miscellaneous things, but I've decided to take a break from modding for the holidays.
