Then don't remove the password. Using sudo passwd root will enable it until you disable it. anyway. the solutions are there. Your whole argument is still that the pwd prompt on sudo is annoying. Sudo was just an example, my original argument was that I hate having to go to the terminal to do anything. I only use Linux for cross-platform development and the Grub 2 bootloader that comes with Ubuntu. I hate Microsoft because they've monopolized the computer industry, killing (not just making it hard for) competitors. Additionally, they are thieves, liars, have no taste in style, like to restrict their users, and use their money to silence people. I also hate Apple because (like Microsoft) they are thieves and liars. They also over-charge for their computers and take credit for other people's work and then point fingers at Microsoft. I tried going all Linux before, but eventually built up a list of things that really bothered me. - Having to go to the terminal or type my password to do anything
- I have a Sandy Bridge Intel HD Graphics card, so I don't get hardware acceleration. On Windows, I can run Skyrim on the highest settings with very little lag and on the lowest settings with no lag, yet I can barely emulate an N64 game in Linux.
- There weren't any Linux ports of some of the applications I commonly used and some of them couldn't run in WINE.
- Several times, when I tried to install .deb's or .rpm's, the dependencies were broken and I'd have to google them. A lot of the packages are hard to find, and some have several distros so I was often confused about which ones I should get.

use synaptic. it will mark all dependencies for you. I use synaptic on OpenSUSE, that doesn't solve the problem. Knowing the dependencies isn't the problem, finding them and getting the right version is. Pretty much every gnu library has a good 20+ distros which in turn depend on other distros. It's a knotted mess. having to use the terminal is not necessary, just faster. I call bs. Just some examples, you can't install JDK, JRE, Avast, or Skype without going to the terminal. (Skype is in the Software Center, but it won't install from there). Not to mention the developers of most 3rd party software don't take the time to pack their softwares into .deb or .rpm so you have to go to the terminal to install it. err... get a real graphics card? Intel's media accelerators can't do shet, besides intel *should* have released a driver for the card. check their website! You think I like my shitty gfx card? I want an nVidia, but I don't have $300 to throw out for one. Btw, I have checked their site for the Intel drivers, all they do is tell you to update mesa and stuff, that your distro should have already updated. When I looked it up online, everyone with an Intel HD graphics card is bitchin it doesn't work. There aren't any linux port due to MS monopolizing the market, but they have made some VERY dumb things recently and they are digging their tomb. I hear you there >_> I fucking hate Microsoft for that. They've been sued god knows how many times by various countries for it. I miss the days when you could walk into any store selling computers and come out with a brand new Mac or Linux pc... also companies started developing for linux now, linux is getting bigger and bigger. They've been saying that for a long time. The only people who've gotten in on it that I know of are Avast and Skype. Avast is on pretty much anything, including tablets, so I find it hard to count that as an extra effort on their part; and Skype is probably just Microsoft wanting to stick its penis in Linux. Some companies are actually dropping support for some or all distros of linux like Oracle (JRE, JDK), Adobe (flash). I know it seems like I'm making excuses or something, but the fact is I don't like either of the 3. ERBOH ref. The best operating system is not the shinniest of 3 turds.

and valve is a major company, most companies who make games that they release on steam made mac ports due to steam running on mac, I can just assume the same will happen for linux Future games maybe, I don't see any of them going back and remaking their games simply because steam added support for Linux.

well, theya re porting the source engine, and all games that are source engine based would run if there was a compiled version of the engine available (90% of the games are the engine, the rest is basically scripts) You're most likely correct here. It really just depends on how platform independent the Valve game engine is and how strict the companies were about sticking to it.
