Welcome! This is my Super Metroid hack called, Super Metroid: Underground. I will organize this place more when I have the time, right now here is what I have to give ATM. Not much is done yet as this hack has been restarted, for the better. BTW The gameplay description is written by KT JDDD (AKA Josh), a friend of mine who has made a custom website dedicated to this hack and other hacks in this trilogy, but will not disclose here as of yet. Enjoy! ================= STORY ================= I have been assigned to another objective from the galactic federation. They have given me this because they know that only I could complete this quickly and successfully…
There was once a creature called Revelant, used to help with fending off numerous attacks with many evil forces that try to stand in the way of the galactic federation. But something happened to it…
The creature built for the protection of the galaxy has somehow attacked an army of federation squads trying to take control of the beast. It had fled to the deepest part of the galaxy where it may now threaten to destroy the very existence of life through the galaxy…
no other information was given except to take the creature out. They had told me that Revelant had been last seen on a planet called Magnus, a planet that was once home to the Chozo race. The planet looked similar to Zebes…
I have just landed, let's go…! ================= GAMEPLAY ================= No changes have been made just yet. It's still debatable whether critical changes will be made to the gameplay of Underground. But we expect something great from Webber1900 such as unique puzzle designs and interesting obstacles. ================= SCREENSHOTS =================

For music I would need to know ASM or assembly to that which I have little knowledge of so no music changes but backgrounds is just either layer 2 or it uses a BG pointer to point to BG data (I think that's how it works) but I hardly use a regular BG background and so I use Layer 2 Backgrounds instead. Because its easier than using the BG editor in SMILE (Super Metroid Integrated Level Editor) and it uses the tileset for the tiles but uses the level data in your room, meaning you lose space for you to use to design your room the way you want, but only a little bit of space.
I might use custom graphics to use different backgrounds but I'm not sure, yet.

Sure will keep you updated, though focus is on Zelda 64 Hacking ATM. Just starting learning how to make my own custom maps. Anyways, this hack may change depending on future circumstances but IDK. Just have to wait and see what happens... Super Metroid hacking in general has become a lot easier than in the past. Check up on Metroid Construction for anything about Metroid hacking. That's where I learned a lot on how Super Metroid works, so I can get good at it and have fun doing it too! They have a lot of useful documents and IPS/ASM patches to make your hack even more impressive than ever. I highly recommend going there if you ever want to get back to Super Metroid hacking or hack any other Metroid game and get a heck lot better at it and even remove some of those limitations too. Happy hacking!

I think it's just as active as these forums is... Active but not very.
Yes your site still exists to this day. Ever thinking about reviving it?
My hack did get praise, but it's just a challenge hack. Nothing special.

Glad you like my ideas. They both consist of using layer 2 for not just backgrounds but background objects like torches or following eyes.

Yeah that would add more creepiness but the point in the video was to make eyes that follow your movement. I actually redrawn enemy sprites to make it an eyeball that follows you around. I will post a video of that soon... EDIT: Graphics update! Not much but it was a days work to get that tree in the game, and it looks pretty good!

@a7ex: Unfortunately, I have not made any popular hacks. The only hack I released was a SM hack called Super Metroid Challenge. It's just a mini hack, and your main goal is to get through the big one room maze, defeat Mother Brain and then escape! The whole point of the maze is to collect items for the mother brain battle. Go here for more information and to Download the hack. Would it be okay to post another SM Challenge thread here on GlitchKill so you don't have to visit the M2K2 Boards to download the hack? @andreawws!: Take a look here: The image above shows how my tile sheet is made. This tile sheet consist of 8x8 tiles, meaning each little square of tiles is 8 pixels Wide and 8 pixels tall. All of the tileset's in Super Metroid uses 16x16 tiles which is made of four 8x8 tiles. Those 8x8 tiles use their own individual palette line in the tileset's palette. The 8x8 tiles also have their own horizontal and vertical flip. Those small white x's you see scattered is empty space, so I can use more custom graphics. As you can see I have little space left for more tiles, unless I can use the CRE tile sheet for background Objects and the regular tileset tile sheet for foreground objects. Which will most likely require major changes in Super Metroid's code. Sorry for that long explanation but all I want you to get from this is that I have little extra space for more graphics and I can't create less dense clouds without the sacrifice of other tiles.
