Well, I want to make a first person version of Legend of Zelda OoT. I was thinking of basically forcing the camera into "c up" mode but giving link the ability to move and you can only switch back to 3rd person by hitting c up again and "B" (and similar buttons) wouldn't switch back to 3rd person. How would I find the right address to modify when doing this so it can be a gameshark code?

That would be Epic, it would be like Oblivian. Try Emu-Paradise and search Mods.

To my knowledge, this has never been done before, plus you didn't answer my question.

You can create a first person mod by putting DF commands at every single display list occurence of link's hiearchy but then again... That would be cheap ^_^
Cutscenes wouldn't look right, though.

I'm sorta new to this, can you evaluate DF commands and hierarchy?

There IS a first person code. Only for Debug rom though. And it's buggy.
Please use the search next time.
I will look through my gameshark codes.

I believe that is it. It disables some buttons though, it pretty much gets glued to first person.
Also @phantomlink, my opinion on Andreawwz is that he is an average hacker, not some super genius.

hmmmm, noone can't seem to spell my name right (lawl)
Also as chaojimbo said there is already a code for it, I have used it before, tho it is buggy and doesn't work properly, 'real' first person in oot will not work properly tho, since nintendo where a bit cheap at some places and just used plain textures instead of actual mesh and textures, so there it would fail epically, eg most of the houses, in the city and some other places.
What is your argument for thinking That I'm 'an average hacker'? please specify why, Is it because I have never released a mod? or why?

Yea, ive used it before too, it's very buggy and not what I'm looking for. Would I have to go through thousands of RAM bits and bytes to find a flag that forces it into "c up" mode??? (I'm pretty sure I said that correctly) but there'd be no 1st person in the texture only places. HOW Would I even start a project like this???

how you would do it? Use nemu and see what address is called when you press 'c-up' memorize that, analyze the asm there and see if it makes any sense, that would be, look for what controls the camera mode, and change the function of c-up to only change the camera, and make it an on/off activator
sounds hard/impossible and it could (And most likely will) crash the game at various places.

Sadly, I do not know how to ASM hack, any good tutorials? And how would I find where the c up is calling? Does nemu have an option for that? If I get this to work, I'm totally gonna make a mod over the summer.

I swear I think DeathBasket actually managed to do this before, but maybe I'm going insane. At any rate, it should be possible via an assembly hack (I would be hard-pressed to say a GameShark code would be convenient; if you can make one, it'd probably be at least a few hundred lines long). Nemu has lots of great debugging features for those purposes; in particular, its memory viewer is an essential tool. I would recommend searching for a tutorial on how to effectively use it. Documentation on assembly code can be difficult to find, but not impossible. I have a few PDFs I could upload to my site if they are needed by the public. Finally, a great resource to learn specifically about file formats is spinout's wiki. If none of these provide sufficient insight as to what you're trying to do, I would try asking spinout directly.
