Wait, why not? I mean if the pic itself is a bmp and I saved it as a png in paint and then use the png2raw converter. I still have the bmp version as well but when I used bmp2raw, it didn't work either.

Well, if you saved a bmp as a png and tried too import it it will fail The bmp version is still original? Also please follow the pallete of the bmp, or else it will look like pure 5h|7 in game A good editor is GIMP 2.6 (At elast better than mspain ) www.gimp.org/

Oh, I see. That does make sense.
And yes, it is still original. But I'll give gimp a try and see how I come out with that.

It should work, just keep the palette (This is only applied for bmps)

Gimp is a very good program, but a little advanced. I also advise Paint.NET for it's simplicity and it is very easy to use with a ton of features and some more or less that GIMP or photoshop has.

what kind of hacking could be done to ZLE2 to rip all textures in the png format? I simply can't work with bmp's, I could just use a textue plugin, but that would suck :/

Hey guys, I sorta figured out the offset to the Debug ROM for the action HUD labels. It's extremely close to: 0x8B1061. Anyway, I extract it from the ROM, change the Navi text to say Tatl, I then reimport it into the ROM but it still comes up saying Navi whenever she wants to talk to me. I reexport it and it says Tatl on it still, so what am I doing wrong? Is there another offset with this information or something? I'm using n64gfx and the Russian tutorial I mentioned earlier in the thread but I found the correct offset where the other one shown in the tutorial was for the original 1.0 ROM. So, anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'll show you the texture I ripped from the ROM using n64gfx and how I changed it. Note under 'Throw', it says Tatl. It used to say Navi. And like I said, apparently it's being inserted into the ROM when I import it because when I reexport it, it still says Tatl. Any ideas, please?

Is it really a virus or is it a false virus warning? I have AVG Internet Security installed and it kept telling me it was a virus but I just disabled the resident shield for that particular program so that it'd skip over it and let me use the program. Something I discovered though.
If I edit Attack, Check...etc... etc... Those changes WILL in fact be displayed in the game but when I change Navi to Tatl, it still flashes Navi on C-Up. However, I took notice those were all A button items outside of Navi. Is it possible in preproduction of the game that Navi was an A button item but moved to C Up in later production?
I was looking more into that website I listed earlier in this thread and apparently there is a seperate file you can extract for the C-Up Navi image however the Zelda Extractor program used for it will not work with the Debug Rom. If I could find the exact offset as to where its located, then I could extract it, edit it, and then reupload it. I think if it was made into ZLE2, that program could extract the Navi image since according to the website, the location names are compressed images and you would extract those images using the same method described to extract the Navi image. So I dunno. Maybe Nemu's image debugger could tell me where Navi is located, it'd just take me a while to scroll through all those squiggles.
I know I could probably make this as a texture pack, but I truly prefer injecting the images into the ROM. When I do dump the images using Rice, the filename for Navi is this: Debug Version DEBUG#5B6C8D64#3#0_all.png. Does the number in the filename mean anything to anyone?

Yes, in some of the beta screenshots you can see NAVI written on the A or B buttons (don't remember which). When I do dump the images using Rice, the filename for Navi is this: Debug Version DEBUG#5B6C8D64#3#0_all.png. Does the number in the filename mean anything to anyone? As far as I know it's just what the plugin uses to identify each texture. It's nothing to do with where the texture is found in ROM.

Zeth knows how to do this- you could ask him. As for me, well... I'm not really a texture-modder
