I've been wanting to create a program that generates a valid OoT Save, in the hopes that I may be able to generate valid VC saves, but the problem is that if I try to modify any of the data without updating the checksum number (wherever that's stored), then the game will ignore the modifications and delete the file.
I know a bit of the save file format. It consists of a 32 byte header, and six 5200 byte long save files (files 1,2,3, then duplicates of files 1,2,3). I also know that the files are checked against the checksum at the start of the N64 logo. I also know that leaving on certain cheats (i think any one of the Have X item cheats work if the save doesn't have that item) at this time will corrupt the save files, meaning that the game data is loaded somewhere near that portion of memory.
