how to set an image on "fire"

i was recently messing with photoshop and i figured how to create an effect similar to this:



to do this effect you need adobe imageready, or photoshop cs2, cs3, or cs4.

1. you want to find a picture of fire you'll want to put over you image.

2. open you're image in photoshop or imageready.

3. copy and paste the fire into your image.

4. there should be 2 layers now, you're image should be in layer 1, the fire should be in layer 2.

4. set the fire layer to "linear dodge" or in cs4 it's "linear dodge(add)"

5. this step is optional, press ctrl+T the right click the fire and you will see "warp" in the right click menu.

6. another optional step, to change the colour of the fire click ctrl+U, and edit the hue/saturation/lighting.


i discovered the fire last night.
I made a sig for my father also, this took an hour to choose a good font.

When you posted is wasn't 30 days old, it was 28 days old so no rules broke.

Ps. blue fire rox, but I have a crappy image format .Gif, .png is better.

Thanks anyway for the tip though. I will use it at somepoint. xD
I imagine using blue fire more though, but all I have tyo do is make fire like you said, the go over it with the color replacer.

Or just make a new layer, set the layer function to Color, then Dump the color you want into your picture
